Early Life and Career

Zoaya Counts was born in Russia in 1895. Her father was a military officer, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Zoaya showed a passion for adventure and a fearless spirit. She learned to ride horses and swim at a young age, and she loved to explore the outdoors.

In 1916, she flew across the country from New York to San Francisco, becoming the first woman to fly solo across the United States. She also set several altitude records and became known for her fearless flying.

In 1917, Zoaya joined the French Foreign Legion and flew combat missions during World War I. She was one of the few women to serve as a pilot in the war, and she flew over 100 combat missions. She was awarded the Croix de Guerre for her bravery and service.

Later Life and Legacy

After the war, Zoaya returned to the United States and continued to fly. She became a commercial pilot and flew for several airlines.
